Hope all of you are doing well! Here’s what I have for you this month.

This blog started out giving you posts of the songwriter’s notes, lyrics, and music for my original songs. As with many things, it has gone in new directions. Our last open mic on July 18 at Brew and Brats at Arbor Hill, an eatery and entertainment center behind the Arbor Hill Winery & Grapery was another great time! Special thanks to Jack Jones, Fran Cary, and Harry Lancaster for being part of this open mic! The highlight of the evening for Siobhan and me was closing out the night with Jack Jones and Fran Cary on stage with us! It was another magic moment at Brew and Brats! Our next open mic will be on September 12. So, mark your calendar! In the meantime, we will be doing a regular show at Brew and Brats on August 9. Details for this show are at the end of this message. Whether we are running an open mic or playing a regular show, Brew and Brats is always a good time! As always, thanks for supporting original music! Jed Curran and Steve Piper put on a great show at the “Singer/Songwriters in the Side Room” concert in July. Siobhan will have a video of one of Jed’s songs from that show ready for my next update in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I just want to give you a little introduction to Steve Piper, the songwriter who will be performing at the next concert at Buffalo Bill’s on August 21. Steve, who accompanied Jed Curran with some great licks from his guitar in last month’s show, will be doing a solo show of his original music. Here is a video of Steve doing “This House,” at his show in the “Side Room” at Buffalo Bill’s in 2012. For those of you who follow us at Rio Tomatlan, we’d like to give you an update. Rio sustained a fire in late May. The restaurant suffered a great deal of damage, and Rio will be reopening at its new location in Canandaigua at 106 Bemix Street, the previous site of the Lumber Yard. Before Rio reopens, however, the old Lumber Yard will need some major renovation, and the new Rio will most likely not open until this fall. On Sunday, August 10, Bill and Robin Mallwitz, the owners of Buffalo Bill’s in Shortsville, will open their door to Rafael Guevara, the owner of Rio Tomatlan, and his staff so that they can hold a benefit to help the workers at Rio. Siobhan and I will be supplying the music for this event. Rafael and his staff will take over the kitchen at Buffalo Bill’s and be cooking up some of your favorite Mexican dishes. The bartenders will be bartenders from Rio Tomatlan. This event will give you a chance to catch up with the folks at Rio! Tickets for this event are on sale at Buffalo Bill’s.
