Hi,
This blog started out giving you posts of the songwriter’s notes, lyrics, and music for my original songs. As with many things, it has gone in new directions. So, if you just started reading my post and are interested in my original material, here is a link to my Songwriter’s Notes, Lyrics, and Music.
On Thursday, 7/17, Jed Curran and Steve Piper will be our performers in the “Side room” at Buffalo Bill’s. Jed will be there to share his stories and songs, and he will be accompanied by the legendary Steve Piper, a terrific guitar player with a sense of humor second to none. Here is a little quote from Jed regarding his songwriting, “I write to heal myself, fuel my personal growth and connect with my fellow man. I love to find song and poetry concealed in the mundane everyday experiences.” Here is a video of Jed doing one of his songs, “My Name Is Peter Biss,” at his show in the “Side Room” at Buffalo Bill’s in December of 2012.
To learn more about Jed, click here.
To learn more about Steve, click here.
Hope you can join us!
The concert is free, but we do ask for donations to support our performers. Siobhan has created two CDs, one for each of our two seasons. Each CD contains songs of the performers who appeared during that season. The requested donation for each CD is $10, and the proceeds go to the performers who are playing on the night of the donation. The CDs have gotten good reviews, and we hope they get passed around to let others know about the great talent we have appearing at this venue.
The concert takes place on the third Thursday of every month in the side room of Buffalo Bill’s Family Restaurant and Taproom, 19 Main Street, Shortsville, NY. The show runs from 7 to 9 PM. To learn more about Buffalo Bill’s, check out their site right here:

Bonnie Abrams and Allen Hopkins were our guests in June. To give you a feel of the setting of these concerts, here is a video of the duo doing one of Bonnie’s songs, ”Rainforest Crunch.”

MEYER AND MCGUIRE: NEWS AND MUSIC SCHEDULE
Hi,
Hope all of you are doing well! Here’s what I have for you this month.
This blog started out giving you posts of the songwriter’s notes, lyrics, and music for my original songs. As with many things, it has gone in new directions. So, if you just started reading my post and are interested in my original material, here is a link to my Songwriter’s Notes, Lyrics, and Music.
Our last open mic on May 10 at Brew and Brats at Arbor Hill, an eatery and entertainment center behind the Arbor Hill Winery & Grapery was another great time! We are going to do it again on July 18. Details for this open mic are at the end of this post. In June, we did a regular show at Brew and Brats with our good friend Perry Cleaveland, a great mandolin and fiddle player. The weather was beautiful, the music was grand, and the evening was a magical one. The best part for me was catching up with so many old friends. So, whether we are running an open mic or playing a regular show, Brew and Brats is always a good time! Siobhan and I will be there on July 18 to get the show started. If you sing or play an instrument, come on out and be part of the show. If you just want to come and listen, that’s OK too. Either way, you’ll have a blast!
As always, thanks for supporting original music! Bonnie Abrams and Allen Hopkins put on an awesome show at the “Singer/Songwriters in the Side Room” concert in June. Siobhan will have a video of one of Bonnie’s songs from that show ready for my next update in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I just want to give you a little introduction to Jed Curran, the songwriter who will be performing at the next concert at Buffalo Bill’s on July 17. Jed will be accompanied by the legendary Steve Piper, a terrific guitar player with a sense of humor second to none. Here is a little quote from Jed regarding his songwriting, “I write to heal myself, fuel my personal growth and connect with my fellow man. I love to find song and poetry concealed in the mundane everyday experiences.” Here is a video of Jed doing “My Name Is Peter Biss,” at his show in the “Side Room” at Buffalo Bill’s in December of 2012.

For those of you who follow us at Rio Tomatlan, we’d like to give you an update. Rio sustained a fire in late May. The restaurant suffered a great deal of damage, and Rio will be reopening at its new location in Canandaigua at 106 Bemix Street, the previous site of the Lumber Yard. Before Rio reopens, however, the old Lumber Yard will need some major renovation, and the new Rio will most likely not open until this fall. On Sunday, August 10, Bill and Robin Mallwitz, the owners of Buffalo Bill’s in Shortsville, will hold a benefit to help their good friends at Rio. Siobhan and I will be supplying the music for this event. Stay tuned for more details in my post in late July or early August.
Well, have to go for now. Below is a list of our dates for July. Hope to catch you at a show! Take care!
All the best,

Our last open mic on May 10 at Brew and Brats at Arbor Hill, an eatery and entertainment center behind the Arbor Hill Winery & Grapery was another great time! We are going to do it again in July. Details for this open mic will appear in next month’s music update. Last month we had some terrific performances given by Bob Dugan, Steve Garfield, Bob Mincer, and the amazing Joe Preston. Although all the players were very good, the highlight of the evening for Siobhan and me was getting our good friend, Bob Mincer, to play slide whistle with us to “King of the Road,” a classic Roger Miller tune. Bob was there with his wife, Pat, and their friends, and we really enjoyed playing all of Pat’s favorite tunes. In June, Siobhan and I will be there again. This time, however, we will be doing a regular show with our good friend, Perry Cleaveland. Perry is an awesome mandolin and fiddle player, and he adds a lot to our sound. I think you will enjoy him. Details for this show are at the end of this post. Hope you can make it!

"Singer/Songwriters in the Side room" Presents Connie Deming
Hi,
This blog started out giving you posts of the songwriter’s notes, lyrics, and music for my original songs. As with many things, it has gone in new directions. So, if you just started reading my post and are interested in my original material, here is a link to my Songwriter’s Notes, Lyrics, and Music.
On Thursday, 5/15, Connie Deming will be our performer in the “Side room” at Buffalo Bill’s. Connie graciously agreed to fill in for John Dady, the songwriter originally scheduled for this show. John’s show has been rescheduled for November 20. Siobhan and I have followed Connie’s music career from somewhat of a distance over the years, first seeing her at McGinnity’s way back in the 1970s. She has played in many places, and most recently, you will find her at the Little Theater Café in Rochester on Saturday nights. Connie did a show for us back in March of 2013, and it was simply outstanding. With her acoustic guitar, awesome voice, and powerful, thought-provoking lyrics she captivated her audience for two hours. Her heart-warming stories, injected with just the right amount of humor, put her listeners at ease, and it felt like you were sitting with a friend in your living room. Here’s a video of Connie from the 2013 show. Enjoy!
"Across the Table"
Now, if you want to know more about Connie and her interesting, creative endeavors, here is a link to her web site. Hope you can join us for the show!
The concert is free, but we do ask for donations to support our performers. Siobhan has created two CDs, one for each of our two seasons. Each CD contains songs of the performers who appeared during that season. The requested donation for each CD is $10, and the proceeds go to the performers who are playing on the night of the donation. This blog started out giving you posts of the songwriter’s notes, lyrics, and music for my original songs. As with many things, it has gone in new directions. Enjoy!

Meyer and McGuire: News and Music Schedule
Hi,
Hope all of you are doing well! Here’s what I have for you this month.
This blog started out giving you posts of the songwriter’s notes, lyrics, and music for my original songs. As with many things, it has gone in new directions. So, if you just started reading my post and are interested in my original material, here is a link to my Songwriter’s Notes, Lyrics, and Music.
Our last open mic on April 12 at Brew and Brats at Arbor Hill, an eatery and entertainment center behind the Arbor Hill Winery & Grapery was another great time! We are going to do it again this month on May 10, and the time and address for this event can be found on our music schedule listed at the end of this post. Last month we had some outstanding performances given by Jim Gleason, Steve Garfield, Meredith, Ryan, and the amazing Joe Preston. Although the players were very good, the highlight of the evening for Siobhan and me was the impromptu jam session that occurred after the open mic was over. About ten women from Buffalo showed up after Brew and Brats was officially closed. They were on a “girls’ gone wild weekend,” and they were unfamiliar with the hours at Brew and Brats. Although everything was packed up, I took out my guitar. Jim Gleason unpacked his banjo, and Joe Preston grabbed his harmonicas. Sitting in the bar with no sound system, we played a set of music that was simply magic. It was one of those moments that transcended time, a place I have been with music on so many many occasions. In May, Siobhan and I will be there again to run the sound. Of course, we will fill in the down-time with our music, but we hope to see many of you show up with your guitars, banjos, mandolins, fiddles, harmonicas, etc. We really enjoy doing what we can to get others out there to play their music! You can perform as a solo, and if you want some backup, we’ll find it for you. If you are not a player, come out and enjoy the food, beverages, and entertainment! Hope to see you there!
As always, thanks for supporting original music! Scott Regan and Perry Cleaveland put on an awesome show at the “Singer/Songwriters in the Side Room” concert in April. Siobhan will have a video of one of Scott’s songs from that show ready for my next update in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I just want to give you a little introduction to Connie Deming, the songwriter who will be performing at the next concert at Buffalo Bill’s on May 15. "Singer/Songwriters in the Side Room Presents Scott Regan and Perry Cleaveland,
Hi,
This blog started out giving you posts of the songwriter’s notes, lyrics, and music for my original songs. As with many things, it has gone in new directions. So, if you just started reading my post and are interested in my original material, here is a link to Frank’s Songwriter’s Notes, Lyrics, and Music.
On Thursday, 4/17, Scott Regan and Perry Cleaveland will be our performers in the “Side room” at Buffalo Bill’s. Siobhan and I first met Scott about two years ago through our good friend, Maria Gillard. In October of 2012, Scott did a show for us, and we are having him back again because his show was so well received. When Scott is not out there doing his solo gigs, he plays with the well-known Watkins and the Rapiers, a great Rochester based band who has an uncanny ability to be irreverent in a classy way. If you haven’t met Scott, you may have heard him on the radio. He is the voice of Open Tunings, a show that runs from 9 AM to Noon from Monday through Friday on WRUR 88.5. You can check it out right here on the internet! For this show at Buffalo Bill’s, Scott will have Perry Cleaveland (mandolin and fiddle) joining him. Perry, who can play with anyone, has been a great help to “Singer/Songwriters in the Side Room,” and we really appreciate his contribution to the series! He, like Scott, is a down-to-earth guy who really knows how to have fun with an audience. Sitting and talking with either Scott or Perry over a couple of beers would be a great way to spend an evening. I’ll have more details about Scott as we get closer to the show, but if you have the time, check out these videos of Scott doing some of his original material.
